Description: Printed for T. Ruddiman and Co., Edinburgh. [1786]. 12mo, 168pp., folding engraved view of South Bridge Street and adjacent buildings, tear to one fold without loss, tax stamp on title, orig. stiff marbled paper wrappers, paper spine a little chipped. The book starts with a finely detailed calendar showing the days and events for the month, from public fairs, high and low water, sun rise and set, religious dates etc, etc. The publication then moves on to list nobles and titles on the Scots lists, Earls, Barons etc, the main members of judiciary, customs and so forth before moving south and beginning with England from the King to Officers of the Army and Navy including the prestigious Board of Ordinance and a full Naval list, detailing every ship and commander in the Kings Navy (The Victory is recorded fifth on the list as a First Rates of 104 Guns).
