Heydinger. 1784. First Edition, 4to, viii,17,[1]pp., engraved frontispiece of the air ship (inner margin cropped, small tear to outer margin, several page numbers shaved, small piece of outer blank margin missing from final leaf, frontis., offset unto title, lightly browned throughout, disbound, purpose-made paper folder. Jean Pierre Blanchard (1753-1809), French aeronaut, together with the American, John Jeffries, made the first aerial crossing of the English Channel, and who also made the first balloon ascent in America. This is an important account of Blanchard’s observations during his third aerial flight, setting out from Rouen and flying for 45 miles in little more than two hours, great speed in the 18th century.
