Baldwin, No.47, in Pater-noster-Row, Third Edition, 3 copper plates, one of a stove wherein any common fuel may be burnt instead of charcoal, and 2 table settings, errata, some creasing to plates, 2pp. of advertisements at end, and 12pp. of Index, [5], iii, [1], 366, [2], [12], [2] pp., modern half calf. Mrs. Raffald spent fifteen years as housekeeper to Lady Elizabeth Warburton, she married the gardener, opened a confectioner's shop in Manchester and set up a cookery school. She went on to have fifteen daughters, ran two inns, founded Salford's first newspaper, established a registry office for servants and compiled Manchester's first Directory.
