N.P., [Cambridge], First Edition, folio, small library stamp on blank verso of title and on last leaf, 9 engraved plates (2 folding, including a view of the school by S. and N. Buck), a little offsetting from the plates, printed prayer sheet and a cont. manuscript list of chaplains tipped in at the end, v, [1], 5-56, [4], 59-158 pp., modern half morocco on contemporary marbled boards, uncut, a nice copy with good wide margins. An account of the history and architecture of Merton Hall, thought to be Cambridge's oldest building. Pythagoras's School was a mediaeval building in Cambridge owned by Merton College, Oxford, through the endowment of its founder, Walter de Merton. This account was written by a Fellow of Merton College.
