Devizes: Printed by H. Bull, First edition, 8vo (210 x 135 mm), 34pp., 3 plates, bound in later half red morocco, marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt direct. The text of a paper read to the Wiltshire Archaeological Society at the house in the presence of the 4th Marquess. Jackson was a noted geologist and a founder member of the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society. Goes into the celebrated story of the murder of Tom O' Ten Thousand (Tynne) at the instigation of Court Konigsmark and also possibly by mistake for The Duke of Monmouth who was perhaps the assassin's real target. Provenance: From the library of Josceline Grove, with bookplate and their typed catalogue description pasted to front endpapers.
